Glasgow Green Business Support

Supporting Flagship Action 10: Private sector challenge for a climate resilient economy

As part of Glasgow’s Green Deal, to address the challenges of reaching net zero, building resilience to climate change, and rising energy costs in the business sector, in 2023 Glasgow City Council established a series of Green Business Grants along with targeted Green Business Support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Social Enterprises. Together these initiatives are called the Green Business Support programme.

Working with Glasgow City Council, Sniffer delivered four innovative pilot projects between January 2023 – March 2024. These pilot projects set out to help establish how best to support SMEs to become more resilient to climate impacts and has seen the Council testing a variety of approaches to identify those which are most effective and potentially scale them up in future business support initiatives.

One of our projects included working with the creative economy and screen sector to explore sustainability and climate resilience within the industry. Read more here

In addition, Sniffer is also providing ongoing support under Lot 9 of the Phase 3 Glasgow Business Growth Programme. This includes a broad range of services that can be tailored to organisational needs, such climate risk and opportunity assessments, climate change and sustainability training, prioritisation of key actions, and identification of funding.

Local businesses that meet the criteria can now apply for this year’s funding (the deadline is the 20th December 2024 but the fund may close early if the budget is fully allocated). Apply here.
